Let me start off by saying I'm glad to see this site. I would have to say my nuclear revisionism started years ago, due to aircraft carriers, and nuclear submarines, I stared to ask myself these questions. The setup of a nuclear reactor boiling water to fire steam turbines, why the need to have a reactor just to boil water for steam turbines? Steam turbines are to me an unnecessary addition. Why not a direct conversion of so called nuclear energy into electrical energy to drive a azimuth thruster? (For those who might not know what a azimuth thruster is here is a link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azimuth_thruster) If nuclear power is the supreme power source, what would be the issue to convert it into electrical energy? This is what has caused me to seriously think if nuclear power even exist. Not to mention the supposed longevity of the fuel itself. As far as the atomic bomb goes. As a child and teenager I believed, yet as I got older, gained more knowledge about the world around me the bomb itself didn't make sense anymore to me, and that's when a few years ago it hit me like a freight train. The so called atomic bomb was nothing more than a scare tactic to put people into submission. As you all know here on this forum fear is control. Glad to be aboard!

I've wondered the same sort of thing.

If a solar cell can convert light to electricity, why can't something be made to convert neutron bombardment to electricity?

Using radiation to heat something is rather crude. And you would think, in sixty years, they would come up with something better.
Or, at least, different.

Great forum. Came across this via Amazon and Rerevisionist's reviews. I believe he's included a couple of my comments on his book reviews in some of these posts. Anyway, looking forward to conversing with fellow skeptics.
