The characteristics of neutrons in a reactor are based on their energy and their source. Slow neutrons are in thermal equilibrium with their environment.

The US Navy never does any mistakes! Beware. So we agree that when a uranium235 atom splits in fission and becomes A and B atoms, it also releases 2 or 3 neutrons. But what is the velocity of such neutrons? 7% of light or less? And what is the probability that one such neutron will collide with another uranium235 (or A or B) atom in a 10 kg uranium sphere with dia 0.1 m? 1 or 0?

Why are you asking me stuff that is readily available on the internet? Here is more info than you probably need to know about uranium; http://periodictable.com/Properties/A/N ... ction.html You can figure it out yourself.

Velocity of neutrons is not found in the periodic system of elements that was developed by my neighbor Mendeleev at Fischerstrasse 41 about 150 years ago or so. My house is at 25! Nice, isn't it? Only 400+ years old! Guess what town it is in! Mendeleev only stayed there a year but ... what a year. Mendeleev got the Nobel prize for it.

Uranium was big business in the town 1945-1970 and employed >200 000 persons, incl. Willy, my father in law! Small world, isnt it? All uranium was shipped to USSR! The company was Wismuth AG. Guess who were the sole share holder of Wismuth AG! Very famous association!

Your feeble attempts at derailing threads are not going to help you convince anyone that you know what you are talking about.

Ranb, you are just sorry wasting your time with US navy rust buckets slowly falling apart and/or laid up due to lack of resources and no promotion in view for you there ... so you are here ... jealous at the rest of us. I just feel sorry for you.
