Japan Revisionism - Switch to friend after WW2 - Herman Kahn

Postby rerevisionist » 16 Apr 2011 04:29

There's been quite a bit of Japanese-American relations revisionism on this site. Something like:--

[1] Japan and Britain allied before WW1.
[2] Japan defeated Russia (Russo-Japanese War, 1904-5) assisted with Jewish money
[3] Japan, like Italy, changed sides before WW2.
[4] Japan, like Germany, was subject to atrocity propaganda - the 'rape of Nanking' MAY have been faked
[5] Possibly Japan's ruling clique changed from Samurai/nationalist/Monarchist types to imperialist/ socialist/ industrialist types presumably in late 1930s or early 1940s.
[6] Possibly the Japanese ruling cliques wanted their cities bombed - hence the honouring of Curtis LeMay, for land clearance and/or population reduction. Wiki says: On December 7, 1964 the Japanese government conferred on him the First Order of Merit with the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun
[7] Hiroshima and Nagasaki may have been a warning to Stalin and Mao to keep away. They also permitted the Japanese to be presented as victims - note the symmetry with the Jewish hoax of Nuremberg in 1948, later called 'the Holocaust'. (After a mixed start, the story to be presented at Nuremberg must have been planned and settled by 1948).
[8] Japan in effect was an ally of the USA in Vietnam after WW2.
[9] Japan had no effective war crimes trials, to the puzzlement of many.
[10] It occurs to me that 'Seven Samurai' may have been an image rebranding thing - the Samurai as far as I know had nothing but scorn for the peasantry and could more or less treat them as they felt like. Possibly this film was intended to present Japanese history as much less 'feudal' than it in fact was.

I just wanted to make a note here about Herman Kahn whose many books included The Emerging Japanese Superstate (1970). Worth noticing Kahn was recruited to RAND by his friend Samuel Cohen, the inventor of the neutron bomb. He became involved with the development of the hydrogen bomb, commuting to the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory in Northern California and working closely with Edward Teller, John von Neumann, Hans Bethe, and mathematician Albert Wohlstetter. (Quoted from Wikipedia). And of course more in that vein, including the carefully-named 'Rand Corporation' (surely not a corporation at all?) and On Thermonuclear War (1960) - the 'thermo' must be a reference to the supposed great heat of fission, supposedly causing fusion - to distinguish 'H bombs' from 'A bombs'.

Both Germany and Japan were used as sources of cheap but skilled labor after WWII. German cameras and binoculars were copied in Japan.

Japan back then was like China is today.

There may have been many ideas stolen from Germany. I was told by one ameteur photographer that a Kodak color film process was stolen from Agfa. Perhaps the C-41 process. I wonder if anyone has ever done research in this area?

My father bought japanese made binoculars back in the late sixties. I still have them. Once on ebay, I spotted a pair of German WWII binoculars, used by submarines, and they were exactly like the Japanese, in nearly every detail.

It's a very interesting subject.

About Nanking, I found this site;
http://www.sdh-fact.com/
And a documental analyzing the pictures/evidence.
